Paediatric and Early Years First Aid

Course Description

This course fulfils Ofsted’s First aid requirement for early years teachers, childminders and nursery workers. 

The course is delivered over two days (12 hours) and learners are assessed throughout the course with certificates issued upon completion. Learners also have the option to complete the course over several evenings or days. 

The Early Years Foundation Stage statutory framework (EYFS) states that at least one person who has a current Paediatric First Aid (PFA) certificate must be on the premises and available at all times within a professional child care establishment when children are present. This includes cover for sickness and annual leave and to accompany children on trips and excursions.

  • Wounds and bleeding

  • Serious injuries
  • Sprains and strains

  • Sickle cell and meningitis
